  • Meeting – July 20, 2025

    The meeting was extremely successful and productive last Sunday. We had a fairly small turnout, but with summer activities it’s to be expected. Attached is the Agenda and Minutes of the meeting. Some of the highlights were:

    • Rose Houtari was voted in as Vice President.
    • Voted to build a swimming platform for the public boat launch. Dan and Megan Lee and Josh Hoglund have volunteered to chair this. Please let him know if you can assist them in any way be it with materials or labor.
    • Made a couple of small modifications to the By-Laws (attached)
    • Voted to charge a $25.00/year per person membership fee. This will allow paid members to vote on issues. All interested parties are still encouraged to attend meetings, offer suggestions and assist on projects/fundraisers. You can mail payment to me at the address below and I will get them recorded and deposited:

    • The new CFFLA website was approved and is now active. clamfallsflowage.com
    • The new CFFLA facebook page is created and active. Clam Falls Flowage Lake Association
    • The CFFLA 4th of July float won 2nd place and $75.00 The raffle board for meat was sold out and we made $400.00 from that. We encourage members to promote the raffle board for the bird house when they are in Rippin’ Lips.
    • We need a volunteer to take over the position of treasurer.
    • Several fundraising ideas were presented

    Clam Falls Flowage Dam Project Complete: Lake is Full and Flowing!

    Spring 2025 has brought exciting news for Clam Falls Flowage! We’re thrilled to announce that the Clam Falls Dam replacement project is officially complete, and the lake is back to its full, shimmering glory. After months of hard work and dedication, we can finally celebrate this significant milestone for our community.

    As you may recall, the Clam Falls Dam replacement project was awarded to Lunda Construction Company back in March 2024. This $3.9 million undertaking, with Polk County contributing just under $1 million, was crucial to ensuring the long-term health and safety of our beloved flowage. The original dam, deemed a significant hazard by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR), required substantial repairs or removal. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Polk County, the Town of Clam Falls, and the support of Governor Evers and the State Legislature, funding was secured to make this vital project a reality.

    The journey wasn’t without its challenges. Unexpected issues, such as higher-than-estimated sediment depth, asbestos in the dam powerhouse, and evolving WDNR requirements, added complexity and cost to the project. However, through diligent work with engineers, innovative gate designs, and securing additional grant funding, Polk County successfully navigated these obstacles and brought the project to fruition.

    This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support and involvement of our community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project’s success. A special thank you goes out to all the volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to counting shells while the lake was drawn down. Your contribution to understanding the lake’s ecosystem is invaluable.

    We’re also delighted to welcome Betsy McMorrow as the new President of the Clam Falls Flowage Lake Association! Betsy, a full-time resident of the lake, is deeply committed to keeping our community informed and updated on all matters related to the flowage. Her dedication and enthusiasm will be invaluable as we move forward.
